When Customers Have Their License Through a CSP

Customers who purchase Azure services through a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) — such as a Microsoft partner or reseller —have their Azure subscription and billing managed by that CSP.

In this setup:

  • The CSP controls the Azure subscription (billing, invoices, and sometimes access to the Azure portal).
  • Customers cannot directly buy or deploy solutions from the Azure Marketplace using that CSP-managed subscription, unless the CSP explicitly enables Marketplace purchases for them.
  • Marketplace offers are billed to the CSP, who then passes costs to the customer according to their agreement.

Because of this structure, many customers find that Azure Marketplace purchases are restricted under a CSP subscription, especially if the CSP has disabled third-party Marketplace transactions.

How Customers Can Use a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) Subscription Instead

If a customer wants to buy or deploy directly from the Azure Marketplace, they can do so by setting up a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) subscription managed by Microsoft rather than their CSP.

Here’s how to proceed:

  1. Create a PAYG Subscription

    • Go to the Azure portal.
    • Sign in with your organization’s Microsoft account.
    • Navigate to Subscriptions| Add| Pay-As-You-Go.
    • Enter billing details (credit card or invoicing setup).
  2. Assign Access and Permissions

    • Add relevant users (e.g., administrators or IT staff) to the new subscription under Access Control (IAM).
    • Ensure proper role assignments (Owner, Contributor, etc.) for managing Marketplace resources.
  3. Use the Marketplace with Signup products for Finance and Operations

    • Go to ExFlow Core in FO and choose Subcriptions.
    • Search for the desired product (Peppol).
    • Go to General / Onboarding
    • You will be directed to the correct Azure Marketplace offer.
    • Choose the price plan or private offer you can access.
    • Select the Pay-As-You-Go subscription under your account during the deployment process.
    • Confirm pricing and deploy.
  4. Manage Billing and Usage

    • All charges appear directly on your Microsoft Azure invoice.
    • You have full transparency and control via the Cost Management + Billing section in the Azure portal.
